Debuting with Elder Scrolls: Arena in 1994, it is also one of the longest-running franchise in the genre. The game series itself is massively spread out. Apart from five main entries into the franchise, multiple spin-offs and expansions are also included in the series. Releasing in 2011, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is the most recent entry to the main continuity of the franchise.

Since its debut, Elder Scrolls games have been released in multiple platforms. This includes Windows, Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo. Furthermore, games for Android and IOS have also released. The game series has massive appeal among gamers and has gained very positive reviews from critics as well. It has won multiple Game of The Year awards. Additionally, Elder Scrolls has been a huge commercial success for Bethesda as well. Reports suggest that the franchise has sold 58 million copies worldwide to date.

Though the franchise has received new entries as recently as this year, no main entry has released in a while. And fans have been quite vocal with their demand for the sixth entry. Bethesda is currently busy with their new project ‘Starfield,’ and it is expected that Elder Scrolls will release after that. In May this year, Bethesda Vice-President Peter Hines confirmed the same. This means that Elder Scrolls 6 won’t release anytime soon. Moreover, it may take years to get any official information about the upcoming game.
